About Us

The Bloch Agency was founded in 1996 and has been recognized as a premier disability brokerage agency representing a large number of quality individual and group long term disability carriers.  We believe disability insurance is unique and important to the financial welfare of an individual and family.  Therefore, disability has been our primary focus as we feel only an agency with specialized expertise can handle the complexities of this type of risk. Our staff has close to 100 years collectively working in the disability field and was recently recognized in BrokerWorld, a major insurance industry magazine, titled, ‘Focus on The Bloch Agency-Multi-Generation Agencies.’ The Bloch Agency partnered with International Specialty Insurance (ISI) to develop the Family ValueGuard product line.

Ken Bloch Sr., CLU

He has worked in the insurance industry for over 40 years with more than 35 of them dedicated to the IDI market.  Not only is he the founder of The Bloch Agency but he is also one of the founding partners of The Plus Group, the nation’s premier disability marketing organization.

Ken currently participates on several field advisory committees for major disability income companies developing new “state of the art” disability income products and streamlined underwriting procedures.

He continues to be an active member of The Plus Group, NAIFA (Charlotte Association of Insurance and Financial advisors) and the Charlotte Chapter SFSP.  While maintaining his membership with these organizations he has served and continues to hold leadership positions.  Throughout these years he has been recognized for outstanding service by more than one of these organizations.

He has been published in Life Insurance Selling, Broker World and The Charlotte Observer, Keynote speaker at Disability Income Officers Roundtable, NAIFA – 2012/2013 Board of Directors and 2007 Financial Advisor of the Year.

Ken Bloch, Jr. (Director of Sales)

Has been with the agency for 14 years and is in charge of sales and marketing.  Ken represents our agency at all regional and local trade shows associated with the financial industry. He is a member of NAIFA and has attended several of the ‘Top 10 Agency’ meetings in the past.

Ken speaks with our brokers on a daily basis and assists them with in force business issues as well as helping them create more business opportunities.  His goal is to help brokers increase their DI knowledge in order to better serve their clients and in turn feel good about the product.

Matt Bloch (Director of Operations)

Matt has been with the agency for 13 years. He manages all compliance-related tasks and assists our brokers in customizing IDI and Group plans best suited for their client’s needs. His years of experience and comprehension of what is available within the disability market has allowed him to serve the client’s best interest when consulting our brokers.  He is a member of NAIFA and is involved with the specific promoting of the ValueGuard product line.

Aminta St. Onge (Operations Manager)

Has been with the Bloch Agency over 20 years and worked as a licensed agent prior to that. She feels her prior experience as an agent has assisted her in understanding the individual needs of our brokers and of course their clients.  She believes selling disability is about a story the broker gets to put together and our office helps determine how it ends.  While Aminta oversees the administrative processes in the office she is also known to deal with specialized cases requiring more time and details.  She has attended Chief of Staff meetings with a number of our carriers and continues to take advantage of learning opportunities associated with the insurance industry.

Mitch Connella (New Business Analyst)

Mitch joined our agency almost two years ago and manages all IDI new business from start to finish.  Mitch had 13 years of case management experience in the life insurance market prior to The Bloch Agency making his transition to IDI a smooth one.  Mitch’s attention to detail and sense of urgency make the underwriting process a positive experience for our brokers.  He works hard to make certain business submitted is managed and processed to everyone’s benefit.

Shannan McLaughlin (GSI and In Force Specialist)

Shannan has been with the agency for over 5 years.  She handles the processing of guarantee issue cases as well as service in force business as needed.  When it comes to servicing our clients Shannan believes anything less than 100% effort is unacceptable.
